Saturday ladies winners Dot McGillivray (A and B Grade) and Amanda Long (C and D Grade).

John Blundell, (left) winner of Heathcote Golf Club's monthly medal and B Grade on Saturday, together with A grade winner, Ian Frost, who scored a hole-in-one on the 16th hole.

FIVE ladies pairs played an ambrose competition on a pleasant day for golf at Heathcote Golf Club on August 30.

Marlene Hendy and Helen Carlin, both playing their first golf after long spells, combined well to street the field with a score of 90-13-77.

It was lovely to see both ladies back on the track and playing with serious intent. In second place was the duo of Daphne Hall and Margaret Sims, who posted 101-19-82.

On August 31, the stableford event attracted 15 starters. Tony Hunter’s 38 points earned him first place.

Ball winners were: Larry Maxwell 34, David Morris 34, Greg Long 34, Roy Williams 33 and Bryce Pianta 33. Birdie ball went to Kent Davies on the 8th and NTP plus superpin to Daniel Pianta at the last.

On Saturday, punters of both genders come out of hibernation for the first spring competition.

The ladies had 10 starters with Dot McGillivray taking out division one with 32 points.

It was good to see Amanda Long back on the podium in division two with 35 points and Margaret Sims was again runner-up on 32 points. Tristen Wearne won the 8th hole NTP.

The men’s monthly medal took precedence over fishing with 19 competitors, including one visitor, taking part.

Ian Frost shot 71 off scratch and had a hole-in-one on the 16th plus NTP (of course).

However John Blundell again showed the young ’uns how to play with his medal winning 96-27-69. Great work John! Ball winners were the visitor Marc Chappell 86-15-71, Tony Hunter 90-19-71, Garry Boyes 98-26-72, Greg Long 88-15-73, Daniel Pianta 78-5-73, Kent Davies 79-6-73 and David Clouston 74-1-73.

NTPs went to Kent Davies (13th and A grade 18th), Adrian King (B grade 18th and superpin) and Rod Bond (C grade 18th). Birdies went to Adrian King (2nd), John Gastin (8th), Murray Green (10th) and Marc Chappell (16th) and a par ball went to Martin Sims.

The club would like to extend a big welcome to new member Rod Bond who lodged his first handicap card.
