Club championships continue

Gary Beames won the second round of Axedale Club Championships on Saturday.

AXEDALE Golf Club held the second round of its club championships on Saturday.

A total of 87 men and 9 ladies took part in an event sponsored by Smartline.

In division one (0-14 handicaps) the winner was Gary Beames (80 gross, 13 h/c, 67 nett). The runner-up after a countback was Wayne Mildren (80 gross, 12 h/c, 68 nett) while third place went to Max Kettle (80 gross, 12 h/c, 68 nett).

In division two (15-18 handicaps) the winner was Brett Moore (84 gross, 18 h/c, 66 nett). The runner-up was Rod Jacobs (88 gross, 17 h/c, 71 nett) while third place was decided on a countback and went to Peter Richardson (89 gross, 17 h/c, 72 nett).

In division three (19-24 handicaps) the winner was Derek Higham (92 gross, 22 h/c, 70 nett). The runner-up was John Murdoch (92 gross, 21 h/c, 71 nett) while third place was decided on a countback and went to Peter Andrew (92 gross, 20 h/c, 72 nett).

In division four (25-36 handicaps) the winner was Greg Hamilton (96 gross, 25 h/c, 71 nett). The runner-up after a countback was Vik Sabaliauskas (102 gross, 30 h/c, 72 nett) from third place winner Russell Cole (97 gross, 25 h/c, 72 nett).

Ball winners: Peter Hoskin and Stu McGibbon 69, Scott Cornelius, Rod Connelly and Glenn Laity 70, Troy Cartner 72.

Ladies 4BBB Stableford

The division one winner in the ladies 4BBB stableford was Loretta Prowse (10 h/c, 34 nett). Runner-up in the ladies was Carmel Harrison (21 h/c, 32 nett) after a countback.

Ball winners: Joyce Spofforth 32 nett.
