MOLLY McLean, a junior member of Heathcote Golf Club, has taken out the Romsey round of the Macedon Ranges Junior Golf Tournament on Sunday.
Molly posted the best gross score of the day to be crowned the 2017 girls champion and receive the Gary Watts Shield.
It was a great effort for an 11 year-old playing off a handicap of 13.
The young golfer hopes to follow in the footsteps of her father, who is golf professional at Sorrento Golf Club.
Molly’s mother Kate said her daughter has always been involved with the game and picked up a golf club from an early age.
“She loves the challenge of the game and how every course is different. She has a natural sporting ability,” she said.
“Molly practices three times per week and plays in a competition every weekend where possible.”
Four ladies played a stableford event at Heathcote Golf Club on Wednesday with Cathy Shaddock scoring a well deserved win.
Cathy’s 28 points just shaded Carol Stuarts 27 points. Margaret Sims took out the NTP 2nd shot on the 18th.
