THE controversial Earthcore Summer Dreaming Festival is heading to Elmore in November.
The dance festival has been held at the Pyalong site since 2013 but in June the Mitchell Shire Council was unable to grant permission for the 2017 event to go ahead.
The Elmore Events Centre confirmed it would hold the festival from November 23 to 27.
In 2016, the festival was marred by the death of a Melbourne woman in her 40s. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
There were also 19 drug notices handed out, 28 people cautioned for cannabis use, four were interviewed for possession of drugs and two for possession of a weapon.
There were also 32 caught drug driving.
But despite the history of the event the Elmore community is pleased with the announcement.
Elmore Progress Association president Meg Doller said the Elmore Events Centre was a fantastic site for these types of events and festivals.
‘‘The centre’s ability to host Earthcore is evidenced by the success of a range of similar events, including the long-running Summer Send Off Ball,’’ she said.
‘‘We trust event organisers will meet all requirements in the lead-up to, and during, the event to ensure it is both enjoyable and safe for festival-goers and the wider community.’’
Earthcore was unable to be contacted for comment.
