Have a say on town plan

HAVE you had your say on the Heathcote Township Plan yet? You might have filled out an online survey that has been circulated in recent weeks.

The township plan will provide a framework for the growth of Heathcote and consider issues around housing, commercial development, transport, community facilities and services.

A key focus of the plan will be how to accommodate growth while retaining Heathcote’s unique character.

The 2014 Greater Bendigo Residential Strategy identified Heathcote as an established area with a good range of services and facilities and a community appetite to grow.

There is no current land use plan for Heathcote, despite the town growing by an average of 25 dwellings a year for the past six years.

Community input into the plan is critical. A Community Reference Group is being established, which will provide local knowledge and act as a sounding board for ideas for the growth of Heathcote.

If you think you would like to be involved, contact us on 5434 6000 or email [email protected] to register your interest in participating.

Flag poles have now been ordered by the Heathcote Tourism Board and we are now waiting for them to arrive. The city’s works team will install the poles when they are delivered, which we expect will be in the coming weeks.
