A Redsdale man will appear in Bendigo Magistrates Court charged with theft of a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods.

HEATHCOTE police recovered stolen goods from a Redcastle address and charged a Redcastle man on Thursday night.

The 36-year-old was charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods after a tractor and other items were recovered.

The man was bailed to appear in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court in September.

■ A HEATHCOTE man has been arrested and charged in relation to the theft of jewellery, a motor vehicle and a trailer earlier this month.

Police arrested the 21-year-old on Friday afternoon and charged him with eight offences including burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

It is believed the victim of the theft was related to the offender, who was remanded to appear in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

■ A TWO-STOREY farmhouse in Heathcote was destroyed by fire on the weekend.

Firefighters were called to the house by a neighbour in Heathcote South at 4pm on Saturday, where they found an unoccupied building engulfed in flames.

It took units from Heathcote, Costerfield and Tooborac 30 minutes to control the blaze.

Investigators suspect the fire was started by a kitchen stove.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.

Heathcote CFA captain Carl Watkins said arrangements were being made for the elderly owner’s welfare.
