MITCHELL Shire Council is encouraging the community to have their say about documents currently out for public exhibition.
The Draft Budget and Strategic Resource Plan for 2017/18 will be principle among these documents, outlining the council’s financial targets for the next four years.
The Draft Council Plan for 2017-2021 will also be available, outlining the council’s vision for the next four years and beyond, based on the community’s wants and needs.
Other documents include the review of councillor allowances, and the Road Management Plan, which sets standards for inspection, maintenance and repair of local roads and footpaths.
These documents are available for inspection at engagingmitchellshire.com and in hard copy at the council’s Customer and Library Services Centres in Broadford, Kilmore, Seymour and Wallan.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Rhonda Sanderson said it was important people had the chance to have their say on these important matters.
“We understand there are a lot of projects out for public consultation at the moment, however it is important our community has the chance to have their say,” Cr Sanderson said.
“Being open and transparent with our community is a major priority and there is no better way to do that than to seek their feedback.
“I encourage all residents to look at these projects and take the time to make a submission, if they feel it necessary. Council is here to work for our community and we appreciate their thoughts and opinions.”
Submissions can be made online or via hard copy by 5pm on Tuesday May 23.
Submissions will be considered at the council’s Hearing Committee Meeting on Monday June 5, before the Budget and Strategic Resource Plan are considered for adoption at the council meeting on Monday June 19.
