TWO hundred schools in Victoria will benefit from funding under the Powerful Youth Projects funded by Momentum Energy through its partnership with Junior Landcare.
The new program, launched this week, is offering 200 grants worth $1000 for projects involving young people playing an active role in caring for and learning about their natural environment.
All Victorian schools, childcare centres and youth groups are eligible to apply for a grant until April 12.
Momentum Energy managing director Paul Geason said he is looking forward to seeing what great ideas come in from schools across the state.
“At Momentum Energy, we recognise that supporting communities to actively care for the land paves the way to a sustainable future,’’ he said.
‘‘ I look forward to seeing hundreds of children across the state getting their hands dirty and getting involved in learning more about caring for the future of our natural environment.’’
Landcare Australia CEO Tessa Jakszewicz is delighted with the injection of funds into Junior Landcare projects.
‘‘Supporting children from a young age to get involved in environmental projects is hugely important to create awareness of environmental issues and knowledge about where our food comes from,’’ she said.
