Catch a bus to healthy life

'Marjorie' the BreastScreen bus is coming to Heathcote on Friday.

BreastScreen Victoria chief executive Vicki Pridmore has called on the women of Heathcote to ‘put their health first’ and utilise the free breast screening service rolling into town on Friday.

‘Marjorie’, the bright pink bus, will be parked outside the City of Greater Bendigo Service Centre at 125 High St until Friday, November 25.

‘‘Marjorie is one of two mobile screening service vans which travel the state throughout the year, so all Victorian women have access to a potentially life-saving mammogram regardless of their proximity to our fixed clinics,’’ Ms Pridmore said

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime – 75 per cent of those will be over the age of 50.

“I strongly encourage women from Heathcote and the surrounding area to put their health first and make an appointment for a breast screen while Marjorie is in town.”

A return visit in two years time is dependent on local women attending the mobile breast screening service so all are asked to make an appointment.

Appointments can be made by visiting breastscreen.org.au or calling 13 20 50.
